Installing the Essbase Spreadsheet Services Excel Add-in from a CAB File
These instructions cover the installation from a CAB file of the Essbase Spreadsheet Services Excel Add-In on a client computer.

Installing Spreadsheet Services Add-in for Excel
To install the Essbase Spreadsheet Services Add-in for Excel on your computer:
- Click the Install Now link on the launch page.
A screen labeled “Security Warning” is displayed. This is first screen of the Essbase Spreadsheet Services Add-in installer.

In the Security Warning page, click Yes to continue the Spreadsheet Services client installation.
The browser displays a blank page as the program is loaded. When finished loading, the Essbase Spreadsheet Services splash screen is displayed, and then the Excel spreadsheet program is launched.
Note: Excel should contain an Essbase menu, along with the standard Excel menus.

To locate the online help, in Excel, select Help > Essbase Spreadsheet Services Help.
A prompt is displayed stating that the online help files cannot be found.

Click OK at the prompt to locate the online help files.
Note: The installer places the help files, ssclient.hlp and ssclient.cnt, in the Windows system32 folder; for example, C:\Windows\system32.

Navigate to the Windows system32 folder and select the ssclient.hlp file.
The help is displayed. Spreadsheet Services remembers the location of the help and will automatically display the help next time you access it.

Known Issues
Possible Conflict Between Standard Spreadsheet Add-In and Spreadsheet Services Add-in
The Excel Add-In for Essbase Spreadsheet Services can conflict with the standard Spreadsheet Add-in for Essbase Analytic Services. To eliminate that possible conflict, perform the following tasks before you begin the Spreadsheet Services Add-in installation:

In Excel, select the Tools menu and choose Add-Ins.

Uncheck the Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server add-in, and click OK.

Proceed with the installation process as described in Installing Spreadsheet Services Add-in for Excel.

Uninstalling Spreadsheet Services Add-in for Excel
You uninstall the Spreadsheet Services client by deleting the EssWebComponent.EssWebWrapper file from the Windows Downloaded Program Files folder. You should also delete all ssclient.* files (ssclient.hlp, ssclient.cnt and other files generated when you use the help, such as the ssclient.gid file) from the Windows system32 folder.
