Starting the Essbase Enterprise Services Console

Logging into the Essbase Enterprise Services Console requires a valid user name and password, specifying a domain, server, and ORB type.

To start the console:

  1. Verify that the Essbase Enterprise Services server is running.

  2. In the essenterprise\bin directory, locate the startgui file (.cmd on Windows systems, and .sh on UNIX systems).

  3. Run the startgui file.

  4. In User Name field, type a valid user name; for example, admin. Contact the administrator if you do not have a user name.

  5. In the Password field, type the password for the user name; for example, password.

  6. In the Domain field, type the name of an Essbase Enterprise Services domain; for example, essbase.

  7. In the Preferred Server field, select from the drop-down list of available servers or click the Locate button. The Locate button displays a table listing the available servers, along with their respective ORB types and a description of the server.

  8. In the ORB Type field, select from the drop-down list one of the following software technologies:
    CORBA
    TCPIP
    HTTP
    EJB

Note: If you select HTTP or EJB, you need to select a port number from the Port No field. If you select TCPIP, you have the option of selecting a port number other than the default 5001. If you select CORBA, you do not need to select a port number because CORBA uses its own port.

  9. Click Sign On to log into the Essbase Enterprise Services Console.
