A domain is a logical grouping of objects, such as users, groups, and servers. Domains can consist of other domains. A distributed environment can consist of several domains. You create domains to manage the various Essbase Enterprise Services and Essbase servers in your distributed environment.
To create a domain:
In the navigation panel of the Essbase Enterprise Services Console, select a domain, then right-click.
From the right-click menu, select Create > Domain. A dialog box to type a domain name is displayed.
In the text box, type the name of the domain.
Click OK. A domain with the name you specified is displayed under Domains in the navigation panel.
Select the domain you created. The properties of the domain are displayed in the workspace panel.
In the workspace panel, edit the following fields, if applicable:
Name - Displays the domain name.
Description - Describes the domain.
Hierarchical Name - States the name of the domain and the domain to which it belongs.
Root Domain - Specifies whether the domain is root, meaning that it cannot be contained within another domain. Only one root domain can exist. This field is not editable.
Count of Users - Lists the number of users in this domain. This field is not editable.
Count of Groups - Lists the number of groups in this domain. This field is not editable.
Count of OLAP Servers - Lists the number of Essbase servers in this domain. This field is not editable.
Count of Enterprise Servers - Lists the number of Essbase Enterprise Services servers in this domain. This field is not editable.
Count of Domains - Lists the number of domains in this domain. This field is not editable.
Click Save to save the domain's properties.
Note: If you had changed any values since your initial settings, click Refresh to update values on the server.
