1. Prerequisites
================================================================================

   DB2 Text Extender Version 7.1 plus FixPak 1 must be installed
   on the machine before you install the new FixPak.

2.1 Fixed problem
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

     1. RC 201 when running Text Extender administration commands against a 
        database with database code page 1208, database code set UTF8.

3. Installation
================================================================================

   General steps before the FixPak installation:

    1. Terminate all Text Extender Command Line Processor sessions.
    2. Make sure that the Text Extender server has been stopped
       by issuing :

         txstop

    3. Make sure that all DB2 connections are terminated
       by issuing :

          db2 terminate

    4. Check if applications are still active by issuing:

         db2 list applications show detail

    5. If applications are still running, check that you can stop running
       DB2 applications and enter the following command:

         db2 force applications all
    6. Stop DB2 by issuing : 

         db2stop

3.1 Microsoft Windows NT/2000
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------


   In a DB2 EEE environment you have to install the FixPak on all
   physical nodes.

   Installation instructions:

   1. Download the zipped fixpak file file desadm.zip into a separate directory.
   2. Unzip file desadm.zip 
      This results in a file desadm.dll which is the library that has to be
      replaced.
   3. Replace file desadm.dll in the Text Extender installation directory 

          %DMBMMPATH%\bin

      with the new library.

   4. Start DB2 with 

        db2start

   5. Start the Text Extender server with :

        txstart

3.2 AIX
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------


   In a DB2 EEE environment you have to install the FixPak on all
   physical nodes.

   Installation instructions

   1. Download the tared fixpack file libdesadm.tar into a separate directory.
   2. Untar the file using the following command:

        tar -xvf libdesadm.tar

   3. As user with root authorization : 

      - replace the new library libdesadm.a in the Text Extender installation
        directory: 
        
          /usr/lpp/db2tx_07_01/lib
      - run
          slibclean

   4. Start DB2 with 

        db2start

   5. Start the Text Extender server with : 

        txstart
