            Installation Instructions for DB2 Extenders Version 5.2 PTF
                AIX in non-partitioned Database Server Environment
 
 
    INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
    __________________________
 
    To install the PTF in AIX, you need 20 megabytes of free disk space in 
    /usr. The disk space is freed when installation is complete. 
 
 
    INSTALLING THE DB2 EXTENDERS PTF IN AIX
    ________________________________________
 
    To install the DB2 Extenders PTF in AIX, you need to perform the 
    following steps:
 
    1. Ensure you are active as the root user.
    
    2. cd to a read/writable directory.

    3. Download u462713.Z from the ftp site

       See readme.txt for fixes included in this PTF.
       See install.txt for installation details.

    4. uncompress u462713.Z

    5. Stop DB2 and the DB2 extenders if they are running.
 
    7. Issue "slibclean" to clean out all cached copies of the shared libraries.
 
    8. Following normal software update procedures for AIX.
	 
      Step my vary based upon the level of AIX
			Invoke smit
			select "Software Installation and Maintenace"
     		 select "Install and Update Software"
				when prompted for directory enter .
     		 click on OK
			set commit to no
			set save files to yes
			click on OK
