>8 Character user ID support
The size of user IDs supported by DB2 Universal Database has been increased from 8 characters to 30 characters. This gives you greater flexibility when assigning user IDs.

Native OLE DB support
DB2 is now both an OLE DB provider and an OLE DB consumer. This support gives customers with OLE DB-based applications the ability to extract or query DB2 data from the native OLE interface. In addition, you can load data into DB2 using OLE DB table functions.

Microsoft® Visual Studio® integration
DB2 Universal Database provides a collection of tools and wizards to simplify the building and deploying of applications for DB2 for Microsoft Windows using embedded SQL from within the Microsoft® Visual C++® Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
