To create an OLAP analytical application, you assemble dimensions, hierarchies, members and filters from the metaoutline to create a multidimensional outline. The multidimensional outline defines the multidimensional database or cube that your business users will analyze. After you define your metaoutline, DB2 OLAP Integration Server builds the cube outline, populates it with data and calculates the roll-ups and aggregations. Then your users can quickly and easily carry out business analysis. You have many options at this point; for example, you can use the Data Warehouse Center schedule function to automate incremental updates as new data becomes available.
