What's New
The following enhancements have been made in Version 7 of DB2 Universal
Database for Windows.
DB2 Universal Database supports the following Windows 2000 features:
- DB2 services are published in the Active Directory containing the protocol
configuration information that allows client applications to connect to the
DB2 database server.
- DB2 authentication can be accomplished using the single sign-on facilities
of Kerberos. DB2 authentication is unchanged for environments without
Kerberos.
- The DB2 Universal Database Control Center can be launched from Microsoft
Management Console (MMC).
DB2 Universal Database for Windows 32-bit operating systems includes
two components to ease your DB2 application development efforts with Microsoft
Visual C++ using embedded SQL. The DB2 Visual C++ Add-Ins provide you
with graphical user interfaces that are consistent with the Visual C++
development environment.
- The DB2 Visual C++ Tools Add-In is a toolbar that launches some useful DB2
administration and development tools from within the Visual C++ integrated
development environment (IDE).
- The DB2 Visual C++ Project Add-In provides management tools and wizards
that plug into the Visual C++ IDE that help you to develop, package, and
deploy client applications and stored procedures for DB2 servers on Windows
32-bit operating systems.
DB2 Universal Database provides a collection of tools and wizards to
simplify the building and deploying of applications for DB2 Universal Database
for Windows. They employ embedded SQL from within the Visual
C++ Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
