Upgrading DB2 OLAP Server or DB2 OLAP Starter Kit

You cannot install or upgrade OLAP Starter Kit on top of an existing version. You must uninstall the existing version of OLAP Starter Kit before attempting to reinstall or upgrade to a new version.

When you install a new version of DB2 OLAP Server you can use the same directory as the old version. Your OLAP applications will be available to the new or upgraded version. When you install a new version to the same directory, you should take the following steps as a precaution:

• Back up the following files:
  • Your data
  • rsm.cfg
  • Essbase.sec
  • license.*
• Stop any OLAP processes.
• Install DB2 OLAP Server as a new installation, using the existing directory path.
