OLAP Setup and User's Guide

Supported Hardware

For the relational storage manager, the server must run both DB2 and DB2 OLAP Server. Performance is better on a computer that has enough processing power and memory to run both servers.

Server Platforms

• At least a Pentium processor or equivalent for Windows NT or Windows 2000
• RS/6000^(R) for AIX
• Sun SPARC or ULTRASPARC for Solaris Operating Environment
• HP PA-RISC for HP-UX (not supported for OLAP Starter Kit)
• RAM - 64 MB or more (128 MB or more for UNIX platforms)
• Disk space - 35 to 50 MB for the server and sample applications; 15 to 20 MB for the SQL Interface software and samples

PC Client Platforms

• Processor:
  • At least a Pentium processor or equivalent for the Spreadsheet Add-in and Application Manager
• RAM:
  • 16 MB or more for Spreadsheet Add-in and Application Manager
  • 32 MB or more for the Integration Server desktop on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, or Windows 2000
• Disk space:
  • 24 MB for Application Manager
  • 17.5 MB for the Spreadsheet Add-in for 1-2-3
  • 16.7 MB for the Spreadsheet Add-in for Excel
  • 9 MB for Essbase Runtime Client
  • 45 MB for the Integration Server desktop
• Display
  • Resolution of at least 640 x 480 (800 x 600 or more recommended)
