Quick Beginnings for Linux**
Various types of applications can access DB2 databases:
- Applications developed using a DB2 Application Development Client that
include embedded SQL (including Java SQLJ applications and applets), APIs,
stored procedures, user-defined functions, calls to DB2 CLI, or calls to JDBC
applications and applets.
- ODBC applications such as Lotus Approach.
- Net.Data macros containing HTML and SQL.
The DB2 CLI/ODBC driver is an optional component during a DB2 client
install. It is required to run CLI, ODBC, JDBC, and some SQLJ
applications.
For more information on running your own applications, refer to the Installation and Configuration Supplement.
