Creating a table space

Use the Create Table Space window to create a new table space.

To create a table space:

  1. Open the Create Table Space window.
  2. In the Table space name field, type a new name for the table space.
  3. Select a radio button to indicate the Type of table space you want to create.
  4. Select a radio button to indicate the type of Space management you want for the table space.
  5. For partitioned database environments only. Optional: In a partitioned database environment, you can specify the nodegroup in which the table space is created by selecting a nodegroup from the Nodegroup list.

    By default, the table space is created in the IBMDEFAULTGROUP nodegroup.

  6. Specify the containers to use to store the table space.
  7. For partitioned database environments only. Optional: If you want to change the characteristics of a container on one or more nodes, click on Nodes contain Exceptions. Then click on List to open the List Exceptions window, which you use to specify the nodes on which the characteristics of the container are different.
    Note: For partitioned database environments only. If you do not change the characteristics of the container, the path for the container must exist at every node on which the container will be created.
  8. Optional: Click on Advanced to specify performance parameters for the new table space. Otherwise, default values will be used.
  9. Click on OK to create the table space.
