Use Setup Communications to display and configure the communications protocols that are used by a DB2 server instance.
The setup communications window displays the communications protocols that are supported. The protocols that can be identified on the system will be marked with the caption (detected). If a new protocol is installed on the server's system, it will be detected and parameter values will be generated; you can accept these values or change them.
Select or clear the check box to the left of a protocol to indicate whether or not you want to enable this protocol when the server instance is started.
Click on the Properties push button next to the protocols that you enable to view and/or change the protocol's settings. Some of the values are informational only and cannot be changed through DB2. For example, the TCP/IP hostname which applies to the entire system.
You can enable a protocol that is not detected. You then have to supply all the parameter values and you might have to perform additional steps. It is up to you to complete the additional actions that are required to correctly configure the communications product that you use.
Note: | You must stop and start the server instance to make new or changed values effective. |
Use the parameter values that you specify here when configuring connections, on client systems, to databases in this instance. You need these values when you use either the command line processor, or the manual entry mode of the Add Database wizard of the Client Configuration Assistant.
