Generalizing replication subscriptions

Use the Generalize Replication Subscription window to generalize existing replication sources and subscriptions that may have already been promoted. Generalizing the replication subscriptions and sources parameterizes the scripts that set up the replication configuration, so that replication will function in the satellite environment. When you generalize the replication configuration, the Satellite Administration Center will store the batch steps in the setup and update batches. If these batches do not exist, the Satellite Administration Center will create a setup batch called setup and an update batch called update. The setup batch will have the batch steps that set up the replication configuration, while the update batch will have the batch step to invoke the Apply program.

If you are creating a new group, when you complete the steps for this task, return to Deploying a new group, and continue with the next step.

Fields and controls

To generalize replication subscriptions:

1. Open the Generalize Replication Subscriptions window.
2. In the Control server field, specify the replication control server that contains the subscription sets that you want to generalize.
3. In the Application version field, specify the application version to which the generalized replication subscription applies.
4. In the Apply qualifier field, specify the apply qualifier that you want.

   Note:

   If an apply qualifier already exists that matches the group name, this field is prefilled with that apply qualifier.

5. Click OK.
