If you want to use the Control Center to manage your DB2 for VSE & VM systems and perform tasks on the DB2 databases and database objects in the systems, you must add the systems to the object tree. To add a DB2 system to the object tree, you must configure a connection to the system so that you can access the objects in that system. You will have to know the host name, system name, the communication protocol to use, and the communication protocol parameters to use. For example, if you are going to use the TCP/IP communication protocol, you will need to know the port number to use.
If you have installed the Client Configuration Assistant on the workstation where you are running the Control Center, you can use this tool to configure your workstation to access your DB2 system. For information on using the Client Configuration Assistant to access remote DB2 databases, see the DB2 Connect Quick Beginnings book for your workstation platform or the Installation and Configuration Supplement, as well as the online help for the Client Configuration Assistant.
If the operating system on which you are running the Control Center does not support the Client Configuration Assistant, you must use the command line processor and DB2 commands to add the DB2 system. These commands can be found in the Installation and Configuration Supplement and in the DB2 Connect Quick Beginnings book for your workstation platform.
