Adding a license

Use the Add License window of the License Center notebook to add a new license. Adding a license changes your DB2 product from "Try and Buy" or "Expired" to licensed status.

To add a new license:

There are two ways to add a new license. You can add a license from a file, or by entering the information manually from a license certificate.

To add a license from a file:

  1. Open the License Center.
  2. In the System name field, select the system for which you want to add a new license.
  3. Open the Add License window of the License Center notebook.
  4. Click the From a file radio button.
  5. Select the license file (*.lic) that you want to add.
  6. Click Apply to add the license and keep the window open, or click OK to close the window.

To add a license manually:

  1. Open the License Center.
  2. In the System name field, select the system for which you want to add a new license.
  3. Open the Add License window of the License Center notebook.
  4. Click the Manually radio button. This displays the license information fields for you to fill in.
  5. In the Product name field, type the product name.
  6. In the Product version field, type the version of the product to which you are adding the license.
  7. In the Product password field, type the license password that appears on your license certificate.
  8. Optional: In the Annotation field, type the annotation data if it appears on your license certificate.
  9. Optional: In the Comment field, type comments about the license.
  10. Optional: In the Vendor name field, type the name of the vendor.
  11. Optional: In the Vendor ID field, type the ID of the vendor.
  12. Click Apply to add the license and keep the window open, or click OK to close the window.
