Creating a wrapper

Use the Create Wrapper window to create a wrapper. A wrapper enables a federated system to communicate with and retrieve data from a particular class or category of a data source. In most cases, you must create one wrapper for each type of data source that you want to communicate with. For example, if you have three DB2 for OS/390 databases and one Oracle database in your federated system, you must create one wrapper for all DB2 for OS/390 databases and one wrapper for the Oracle database. A unique wrapper may be required for each release of a data source.

Creating a wrapper is the first of a series of actions that you perform to create access to a data source in a federated system.
