List
of publications
This list shows publications that have already been created. If no publications have been created, this list is empty. To create a new publication, right-click on the white space in the list, and click the menu option for the type of publication that you want to create. To view the properties of an existing publication, right-click the publication in the list, and click Properties.
Information
catalog name
This column displays the names of information catalogs that contain published metadata. The following naming scheme is used:
Data Warehouse Center metadata : catalog_name.DWC.typ
where:
catalog_name is the name of the information catalog to which the metadata was published.
DWC specifies that this publication contains Data Warehouse Center metadata.
typ specifies the type of metadata published. The type can be either .def (definition metadata) or control metadata.
OLAP Server metadata: catalog_name.OLAP_server_name.OLAP
where:
catalog_name is the name of the information catalog to which the metadata was published
OLAP_server_name is the name of the DB2 OLAP Server or the Essbase server where the published objects reside
OLAP specifies that the publication contains OLAP metadata
Type
This column displays the type of metadata that has been published to the information catalog. The type can be either control or definition. Control metadata describes changes to objects in the warehouse. Examples of control metadata are the date and time that a table is updated by the processing of a step. Definition metadata describes the format of objects in the warehouse, the sources of data, and the transformations that are applied to the data. Examples of definition metadata are column names, tables names, and database names.
The first time that you publish Data Warehouse Center metadata to an information catalog, both control and definition metadata are published. Two entries for the information catalog are created in the list, one for control metadata and one for definition metadata. You can choose to update either type of metadata.
The first time you publish OLAP server metadata, definition metadata is published.
Description
This column provides a brief description of the synchronization program that is run when the metadata for a publication is updated.
