Reset to default values

Select this radio button to reset the archive values back to those specified during DB2 installation.

Set maximum number of tape units

Select this radio button if you want to set values for the maximum number of tape units for the archive.

  1. Select the Maximum number of tape units spin button.
  2. Use the up or down arrows to enter an integer from 1 - 99. This specifies the maximum number of tape units that can be dedicated to reading archive logs. This value affects the allowed concurrent reads for unique archive data sets residing on tapes.

If the number specified is greater than the current specification, the maximum number of tape units allowable for reading archive logs increases. If the number specified is less than the current specification, tape units that are not being used are immediately deallocated to adjust to the new value. Active tape units remain allocated; a tape unit is a candidate for deallocation because of a lower value only if there is no activity for the unit.

Set deallocation time length

Select this radio button if you want to set values for the length of time a tape can remain unused before deallocation for the archive.

  1. Select the Length of time a tape can remain unused before deallocation spin button.
  2. Select a radio button:

    No limit
Specifies that a tape should never be deallocated.

Specifying no limit is equivalent to TIME(1440). The seconds specification is not allowed when you specify that TIME is 1440.

    Duration
Specifies the length of time that you want a tape to be used for archiving. After making this selection, select the up or down arrows to enter the number of minutes and seconds that you want.

Minutes must be an integer between 0 and 1439.

Seconds must be an integer between 1 and 59.
