Granting privileges to a new user ID

Use the Privileges window to grant privileges for a selected object to a new user ID.

Authorities and privileges

To grant privileges:

1. Open the Privileges window of the object for which you want to add a new user ID.
2. Click the Add User ID push button to add a new row to the table of user IDs.
3. In the user ID column, type a user ID, or Open the List Users window to locate an existing user ID.
4. Grant privileges to the user ID. There are four ways to grant privileges:
   • To grant all privileges but not the authority to grant privileges to other users, click Allow.
   • To grant all privileges and the authority to grant privileges to other users, click Grant.
   • To grant selected privileges, select the cells for the privileges that you want, then click either Grant or Allow.
   • To give a user ID privileges on only specific columns in a table, select Enable column privileges, and select the columns that you want in the list of columns that appears.
   Click OK to add the changes and close the window.
