Start Databases -- Fields and controls

Read and write allowed
Select this radio button to specify that the databases be started with read and write access (status=RW). This is the default value. Databases automatically have read and write access when
they are created. You make any of the databases unavailable by stopping the database.
DB2 can also make the databases unavailable when it detects an error.
If a database was explicitly stopped, you can make it available
again by starting the database.
You can verify the status of your database by displaying
the database (select Database and menu-item Display from the control center).
Read only
Select this radio button to specify that the databases be started with read-only access (status=RO). You cannot change the data in a read-only database.
You can verify the status of your database by displaying
the database (select Database and menu-item Display from the control center).
Online utilities only
Select this radio button to specify that the databases be available only to the DB2 utilities (status=UT).
You can verify the status of your database by displaying
the database (select Database and menu-item Display from the control center).
Start all table and index spaces
Select this check box to start all table spaces and index spaces in the specified database. Starting
the database does not start table spaces or indexes that have been explicitly
stopped. If table spaces and indexes are stopped explicitly (either from the table
space folder or by selecting stop from the database folder and specifying the
table space be stopped in that window), they must be started explicitly.
