Using system temporary table space

Use this box to specify the name of the default table space that will be used to temporarily store the table while it is being reorganized. This box initially contains <none>, specifying that the temporary copy should be stored in the table space where the table currently resides.

To specify a different table space, use one of the following methods:

• Type the name of an existing table space. For example, TEMPSPACE1.
• Click on the down arrow to display a list of existing table spaces and select one.

The reorganization process uses a temporary copy of the table to do the reorganization.

The following guidelines can assist you in determining whether to specify a system temporary table space:

• It is generally recommended that you specify a temporary System Managed Space (SMS) table space.
• If the table you are reorganizing resides in a Database Managed Space (DMS) table space and you think the temporary table will fit in the same table space, do not specify a table space in this field. The reorganization process runs faster in this case.
• Specifying a DMS table space as the system temporary table space is not generally recommended. If you specify a DMS table space in this field, you can reorganize only one table in that table space at a time.

Using index

Use this box to specify the name of the default index that will be used to physically reorder the rows in the table. This box initially contains <none>, specifying that the table rows are reorganized without regard to order.

To specify a different index name, use one of the following methods:

• Type the fully-qualified name of the index. For example, USERID.MYINDEX.
• Click on the down arrow to display a list of existing indexes and select one.
