Use the DB2 Universal Database help to find information about operating the
Control Center.
To find a topic when you are not sure where to start:
- Select a task from the Information
Center.
- Enter some keywords in the search facility, by clicking on Search
in the navigation bar at the top of the help window then select Online help
from the Search in these types of information list.
- Select a topic from the table of contents in the left pane of the help
window. To find the place in the table of contents that represents the
current topic, you can click on a heading in the contents pane.
- Look up a keyword in the online index, by following the Index link
in the navigation bar at the top of the help window.
The navigation bar does not always appear in all browsers. If your
browser supports JavaScript, make sure JavaScript is enabled in the browser
preferences and reload the page.
To get help for the current window:
- Click the Help push button or press F1.
- Some windows, such as the wizards, the Data Warehouse Center, and the DB2
Universal Database for OS/390 windows, have control-specific help known as infopops. In these windows, you can
display the help for a field or control by selecting it and pressing
F1. If the Automatically display infopops check box on the
General page of the Tool Settings notebook is
selected, you can also see the infopop by holding the mouse cursor over the
field or control.
There are several types of online help windows :
- Task steps. Select from a list of tasks if more than one can be
performed from the window.
- Field and control help. Inside some of the online help panels, you
can click (double-click for OS/2) on
or on the phrase Fields and controls to see information about the
controls for the current window or notebook page.
- Notebook overview. A notebook is a window that has multiple
pages. To see a list of all of the tasks you can perform using a
notebook, or to see the list of controls for a notebook page, you can click on
the -- Overview link in the Related information
section.
- Prerequisite information. To see what you need before you can do a
task, such as a certain level of authority, you can click on
or on the phrases Authorities and privileges or Authorities,
privileges, and prerequisite tasks that appear above the task
steps.
- Supertask steps. A supertask help panel gives steps for performing
large tasks that span many windows or notebooks. Inside an online help
window you can click on the -- Overview link in the Related
information section.
Printing a help topic:
To print a help topic, click anywhere the lower-right pane (or contents
pane) of the window that contains the topic text, then use the "Print Frame"
function in your browser.
Using the Top pane of the help window:
The top pane of each online help window contains links to useful parts of
the documentation.

links to a list of the DB2 Universal Database books where you can view any
of the DB2 Universal Database books. You can also access the online
help, the release notes, and Web sites containing information on DB2.
- Search
links to a search form where you can search the DB2 Universal Database
online information.
- Index
links to the index for the DB2 Universal Database online help.
- Glossary
links to the glossary for the DB2 Universal Database online help.
- Feedback
links to a form where you can provide feedback on the DB2 Universal Database
documentation. You can only provide feedback if you are connected to
the Internet.
- Help
links to Information on how to use the online help.
Help that indicates partitioned or single-partitioned
databases:
In the DB2 Universal Database help, graphics are used to indicate when
information applies to a subset of situations:

Information that pertains only to partitioned databases is prefixed with the
icon shown at the beginning of this sentence.

Information that pertains only to single-partition databases is prefixed with
the icon shown at the beginning of this sentence.
