Viewing a table's sample contents

Use the Sample Contents window to display the first 200 rows of a table. It displays a sample of the contents of a table (catalog tables and user defined tables) or a view.

To view a table's sample contents:

  1. Open the Sample Contents window

  2. View the contents of the table.

    The names of the table's columns are displayed at the top of each column in the Sample Contents window. Each column's contents are displayed below the corresponding column name. You can change the order of the display by placing your cursor on a column and moving it left or right. This only changes the current display, and has no effect on the actual columns of the table. You might need to use the scroll bars to see all of the table columns.

    Note: If a column contains one of the following data types, its contents are not displayed: GRAPHIC, VARGRAPHIC, LONGVARGRAPHIC, BLOB, CLOB, and DBCLOB. If a column contains a distinct type based on one of the preceding data types, its contents are not displayed.

  3. Click Close to close the Sample Contents window and return to the Control Center.
