Use the Backup page of the backup notebook to create a backup image that
can be used to restore the table space or table space
partition.

In a partitioned database environment, you back up at the table space
partition level.

You can only access this notebook if the database or database partition is enabled for forward recovery
(that is, the userexit or logretain configuration parameter,
or both, is enabled), and an offline backup copy of the database or database
partition has already been taken.
Fields and controls
Authorities and privileges

To back up the table space or table space partition:
- Open the backup notebook:
- On the Backup page, specify the type of backup that you want to create by
using the Backup To fields. The backup can be
one of the following types:
- Directory or tape for NT and UNIX-based systems; directory for OS/2
system
Specify the path of the directory or tape device to which you want to write
the backup image. The backup image will reside on the disk or the tape
device.
- ADSM
Specify ADSM if you want the proprietary system to manage the backup
image.
- Vendor DLL
Specify a vendor DLL if you have a user-specified program to manage the
backup image.
- User exit (OS/2 system only)
Specify this option if you have a user exit that can be called to create
the backup image.
- On the Options page, select one of the following Process while radio buttons:
- Online
- Offline
Note: | An offline backup requires exclusive access to the database. All users
must be disconnected from the database before the backup operation can
occur. For information about forcing users off the database, see .

- If you want to schedule the table space backup operation, click on Schedule. The Schedule window opens, in which you
can schedule the operation.
- If you want to create a job script of the table space backup operation,
click on Save Script. The Save Script window
opens in which you can save the backup job as a script. You can use
this script for performing backups in the future.
- Click on Backup Now to start the backup.
