Creating a new table from an input file

Use the Import notebook to create a new table that is populated by an input file, or delete rows in an existing table you specify and repopulate it using data from the input file. These tasks can be performed only with integrated exchange format (IXF) input file types.

The table that you selected in the contents pane does not affect importing a file into a new table; the table in the contents pane is selected only to open the Import notebook.

Authorities and privileges

To import a file:

1. Open the Import notebook.

2. Specify file options.

3. Optional: Click on the Large Objects tab and specify that you want to retrieve large objects in separate files.

4. Click on the Columns tab and specify the target table and column options.

5. Click on OK to begin the import process.
