Setting online help properties

Use the General page of the Tools Settings notebook to specify whether certain features of the online help in the administration tools should be displayed automatically. These online help features are hover help and infopops. Hover help consists of small information windows that are displayed when the mouse cursor is over a graphical icon (for example, a toolbar icon). Infopops are information windows that are displayed when the mouse cursor is over a field or control in a window or notebook or in a SmartGuide. In this release, infopops are available in SmartGuides and in Control Center windows and notebooks that involve actions on DB2 UDB for OS/390 objects.

Fields and controls

To specify the automatic behavior of the hover help or infopops:

  1. Open the General page of the Tools Settings notebook.

  2. Select or clear the Automatically display hover help check box to indicate whether hover help will be automatically displayed when the mouse cursor is over the graphical icons in the administration tools. The default setting is for the hover help to be automatically displayed.

  3. Select or clear the Automatically display infopops check box to indicate whether infopops will be automatically displayed when the mouse cursor is over a field or control in a SmartGuide or in a Control Center window or notebook that involves an action on a DB2 UDB for OS/390 object.

If you clear this check box so that infopops are not automatically displayed, you can still see the infopop for a particular field or control by selecting the field or control and pressing F1.

  4. Close the Tools Settings notebook by double-clicking in the upper left corner of the notebook.
