Setting up sources and targets for a subscription

Use the Define Subscription window to set up sources and targets to define a basic subscription set.

If the window was invoked from the Create menu option, all fields are empty.

To set up sources and targets for a subscription:

  1. Type a name for the subscription in the Subscription name field.

  2. Specify where the target table will reside in the Target server field. The displayed default is the alias of the source server.

  3. Optional: Select the Microsoft Jet check box to specify a Microsoft Jet database.

  4. Specify a character string identifying subscription definitions that are unique to each instance of the Apply program in the Apply qualifier field.

  5. Optional: Change the target table by selecting a source and target table combination and then clicking on the Change push button. The Change window opens and you can change the target table.

    You can repeat this step for each target table in the list box.

  6. Select the Create table check box for each target table that you want to create when you subscribe.

  7. Click on OK to submit the subscription. At the Run Now or Save SQL window, you can choose to run your subscription request now or run it later.

  8. Refresh and verify your object.
