Adding DB2 for OS/390 systems to the object tree

If you want to use the Control Center to manage your DB2 for OS/390 V5 and DB2 UDB for OS/390 V6 subsystems and perform tasks on the DB2 databases and database objects in the subsystems, you must add the subsystems to the object tree. To add a DB2 subsystem to the object tree, you must configure a connection to the subsystem so that you can access the objects in that subsystem. You will have to know the host name, subsystem name, the communication protocol to use, and the communication protocol parameters to use for the subsystem. For example, if you're going to use the TCP/IP communication protocol, you'll need to know the port number to use.

If you have installed the Client Configuration Assistant on the workstation where you're running the Control Center, you can use this tool to configure your workstation to access your DB2 subsystem. For information on using the Client Configuration Assistant to access remote DB2 databases, see the DB2 Connect Quick Beginnings book for your workstation platform or the Installation and Configuration Supplement, as well as the online help for the Client Configuration Assistant.

If the operating system on which you're running the Control Center does not support the Client Configuration Assistant, you must use the command line processor and DB2 commands to add the DB2 subsystem. These commands can be found in the Installation and Configuration Supplement and in the DB2 Connect Quick Beginnings book for your workstation platform.
