Use the Calculate page of the Index SmartGuide to choose when you want the recommended indexes to be calculated.
Since it may take minutes or hours for the SmartGuide to find the best indexes, you can schedule the calculation to start at another time. You can also limit the time that the SmartGuide spends searching for indexes. However, you will get better recommendations the longer the calculation runs. The calculations are run on the server.
Note: | The number of notebook tabs changes based on whether you click Now or Later. The Done push button is enabled only if you click Later. |
To check if the SmartGuide ran within the specified time, open the Jobs page of the Journal notebook and click the Job History push button. The Elapsed Time column shows the elapsed time that the SmartGuide took to calculate the recommended indexes. If the elapsed time is less than the time specified in this field, then the best indexes are displayed. Otherwise, you can get a better recommendations by specifying a longer time and running the calculations again. To see the job results, double-click the job or click mouse button 2 on the job and select Show Results. If the job was successful, the Index SmartGuide opens.
