Open the Explain SQL Statement window

To open the Explain SQL Statement window, use one of the following methods:

• From the Control Center, expand the object tree until you find the Databases folder, expand the Databases folder until you find the database you want, and then do one of the following:

  • Click mouse button 2 on the database and select Explain SQL from the pop-up menu.

  • Highlight a database and select Selected->Explain SQL.

  The Explain SQL Statement window opens.

• Open either the Explainable Statements, the Explained Statements History, or the Access Plan Graph window. Select Statement->Explain SQL. The Explain SQL Statement window opens.

• Create an access plan using the Command Center. Select Access Plan->Statement->Explain SQL. The Explain SQL Statement window opens.

Note:

• If Explain SQL was selected from the Control Center, the SQL text field will always be empty.

• If it was selected from the Explainable Statements or Explained Statements History windows, the SQL text field will be populated with the SQL statement of the selected entry in the window. If a selection was not made, the SQL text field will be empty.

• If it was selected from the Access Plan Graph window, the SQL text field will always contain text for the SQL statement whose access plan is shown in the graph.
