Listing objects to search

Use the List window to specify criteria and search for DB2 objects within. The results of the search are displayed in the text area. You can use the results to complete fields on various windows that require a name such as a table space name, or a table name.

Authorities and privileges

To locate an object:

1. Use the Column , Comparison , and Values fields to specify the search criteria. You must either type some value in at least one of the Values fields, including a one-character wild-card (for an inclusive search), or click the Retrieve all push button to get everything of this object type returned. You can also search on all objects, by typing the wild-card % in a field. The strings you type in the values column will be folded to upper case unless delimited. If you want to determine your subsystem's default delimiters, right-click on your subsystem folder in the Control Center and select Display Subsystem Parameters. Search for the macro DSNTIPF.

2. Select a radio button to specify whether to meet all the conditions selected in the fields on the Locate page, or meet at least one of the conditions. Meet all conditions is equivalent to adding an and between the serach criteria, and Meet any conditions is equivalent to adding an or between the search criteria.

3. If you want all possible examples of the object you are searching for, click the Retrieve All push button.

4. If you want results based on your search criteria, click the Retrieve push button.

5. Click OK to use the search criteria that you defined. The result of your search is displayed in the text box.

6. When the results are returned in the text box, right-click on any object to see a pop-up menu. The actions depend on the object type searched.

7. Select an item in the list to have it placed in the text field area that you are trying to complete on the main task.
