Protocol parameters -- APPC
APPC has the following parameters:
Destination name
- Enter the destination of the remote client you want to connect to.
The name corresponds to an entry in the CPI communications side information
table that contains the necessary information for the client to set up an APPC
connection. The maximum length is 8 characters.
Security
- Select the level of security you require by clicking on the appropriate
radio button. The choices are:
- None
- Specifies that no security information is to be included in the allocation
request sent to the partner LU.
- Same
- Specifies that a user name is to be included in the allocation request
sent to the partner LU, together with an indicator that the user name has been
"already verified". The partner must be configured to accept "already
verified" security.
- Program
- Specifies that both a user name and a password are to be included in the
allocation request sent to the partner LU.
Protocol parameters -- IPX/SPX
IPX/SPX has the following parameters:
File server
- Enter the name of the NetWare file server where the internetwork address
of the database manager instance is registered. The internetwork
address is stored in the bindery at the NetWare file server and is accessed
using the Object name.
- You can also enter * in this field, and then enter the internetwork
address in the Object name field.
Object name
- Enter the object name of the database manager instance stored in the
bindery of the NetWare file server or enter the internetwork address.
An example of an internetwork address would be:

Protocol parameters -- NetBIOS
NetBIOS has the following parameters:
Workstation name
- Enter the name of the remote workstation where the target database
resides. This is the workstation name found in the database manager
configuration file of the server workstation.
Adapter number
- Enter the adapter number of the local, logical, outgoing LAN
adapter.
Protocol parameters -- TCP/IP
TCP/IP has the following parameters:
Host name
- Enter the host name of the node where the target database resides.
The maximum length is 255 characters.
Service name
- Enter the service name or port number of the database manager on the
remote node. The maximum length is 14 characters.
Protocol parameters -- TCP/IP
TCP/IP has the following parameters:
Host name
- Enter the host name of the node where the target database resides.
The maximum length is 255 characters.
Note: | You cannot enter a port number from the Add or Change System windows because
the port number is predetermined for the system.

Named pipe has the following parameter:
Computer name
- Enter the computer name of the node where the target database
resides. The maximum length is 15 characters.
