" " Column

Use the list of columns to specify which columns you want to participate in the filter operation.

A column only participates in the operation if a value (or values) is specified for it. To remove a column from the operation, delete all values from its corresponding Comparison Values field.

" " Operator

Specifies the operator to be applied to the comparison value for the column. The possible values are:

In
The column for the resulting displayed object will contain the string or strings specified as the comparison value.

Not in
The column for the resulting displayed object will not contain the string or strings specified as the comparison value.

Equal to
The column for the resulting displayed object will contain the exact string specified as the comparison value.

Not equal
The column for the resulting displayed object will not contain an exact match for the string specified as the comparison value.

" " Comparison Values

Type the comparison value to be applied to the column when the list of objects is filtered. The comparison value is used in conjunction with the operator specified for the column.

For icon columns, select the appropriate icon from the drop-down list.

You can specify more than one string as the comparison value for the In and Not in operators. Use a space to separate each comparison value that you want to apply to a column. If you specify a text string as a comparison value, use quotation marks to indicate embedded blanks.

The results that you receive from the comparison value depend on the operation that you use. For example, if you specify In or Equal to, the comparison value must either contain a string that occurs in the descriptive text associated with the object, or must exactly match the descriptive text string. If neither of these conditions is met, the comparison value is ignored. If, however, you specify Not in or Not equal, the comparison value cannot contain a string that occurs in the descriptive text if a successful comparison is to occur.

You can use the asterisk (*) and percent sign (%) as wild cards in the comparison values for the In and Not in operators.
