Create Nicknames -- Fields and controls

Use the Create Nicknames window to create identifiers that DB2 uses to reference data source tables and views.

Schema

Use this column to specify the name that you want to assign to a schema. DB2 populates the Schema column with your user ID as a default value. Click the cell of a selected schema to make it an editable field, then use one of the following methods:

• Click the down arrow to display a list of suggested schema names and select one. The list is populated with the following; User ID, Remote schema, and Remote table name.

• Type a value in the Schema column that you want to assign to a schema.

Nickname

Use this column to specify the name that you want to assign to a nickname. DB2 populates the Nicknames column with the data source table or view name as a default value. Click the cell of a selected nickname to make it an editable field, then use one of the following methods:

• Click the down arrow to display a list of suggested nicknames and select one. The list is populated with the values for: User ID, Remote schema, and Remote table name.

• Type the name that you want to assign to a nickname.

Options

Click Options to open the Nicknames Options window. Use the Nickname Options window to change the values for all tables and views in the Create Nicknames window.

Filter

Click Filter to open the Filter Tables for Nicknames window. Use the Filter Tables for Nicknames window to define a set of criteria for displaying tables in the Create Nicknames window.
