Use the DB2 Universal Database help to find information about operating the
Control Center.
To find a topic when you don't know where to start:
- Select a task from the Information
Center.
- Enter some keywords in the search facility, by following the link in the
navigation bar at the top of the help window.
- Choose a topic from the table of contents at the left of the help
window. To find the place in the table of contents that represents the
current topic, you can click on most headings.
- Look up a keyword in the online index, by following the link in the
navigation bar at the top of the help window.
The navigation bar does not always appear in all browsers. If your
browser supports Javascript, make sure Javascript is turned on in the browser
preferences and reload the page.
To get help for the current window:
- Click the Help push button.
- Press F1. In most windows, that is the same as clicking
Help.
- Some windows, such as the SmartGuides and the help for DB2 UDB for OS/390
objects, have more detailed help known as infopops. In these windows, you can
display the help for a field or control by selecting it and pressing
F1. If the Automatically display infopops check box in the
Tool Settings notebook is selected, you can also see
the infopop by holding the mouse cursor over the field or control.
An online help window has one or more of these features:
- Task steps. Choose from a list of tasks if more than one can be
performed from the window.
- Field and control help. Inside an online help panel, you can click
(double-click for OS/2) on
or on the phrase Fields and controls to see information about the
controls for the current window or notebook page.
- Notebook overview. A notebook is a window that has multiple
pages. To see a list of all of the tasks you can perform using a
notebook, or to see the list of controls for a notebook page, you can click on
the -- Overview link in the Related information
section.
- Prerequisite information. To see what you need before you can do a
task, such as getting a certain level of authority, you can click on
or on the phrases Authorities and privileges or Authorities,
privileges, and prerequisite tasks that appear above the task
steps.
Printing a help topic:
To print a help topic, select the lower-right part of the window that has
the topic text, then use the browser function "Print Frame".

Information that pertains to partitioned databases only is prefixed with the
icon shown at the beginning of this sentence.
-
