Offline

The roll-forward operation occurs offline (that is, no other application or user can be connected to the database or database partition when the roll--forward operation is in progress). This is the default.

Online

The roll-forward operation occurs online (that is, other applications and users can be connected to the database or database partition when the roll--forward operation is in progress).
