These DB2 Clients are available on the following operating systems: * AIX * HP-UX** * Linux** * OS/2 * Silicon Graphics IRIX** * Solaris** * Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT** This README describes the contents and directory structure of the CD-ROM for each of these platforms. **************************************************************************** IMPORTANT NOTE FOR HP-UX USERS DB2 Version 6.1 for HP-UX contains several files with long file names. These may cause the installation from the CD-ROM to fail. As a work-around, you need to mount the CD-ROM drive using pfs_mount rather than mount. The steps are as follows : 1. In the etc directory, append the following line to the pfs_fstab file (if one does not exist, create it): pfs-rrip ro,hard where CDROM_DEVICE is the device for your CD-ROM drive. For example: /dev/dsk/c2t2d0 /cdrom pfs-rrip ro,hard 2. Run the following commands (if pfs daemons are not currently running): /usr/sbin/pfs_mountd & /usr/sbin/pfsd 4 & 3. Run the following command to mount the CD-ROM drive: /usr/sbin/pfs_mount /cdrom Once this is completed, you can change directory to /cdrom and run db2setup to install. ****************************************************************************** This CD-ROM contains the following components: * DB2 Run-Time Clients * Installation books in HTML format for online viewing directly from this CD-ROM * Installation notes containing additional information about installation that became available after the installation books were completed A full description of these components is provided in the documentation on this CD-ROM. The DB2 products on this CD-ROM are provided in several languages in addition to English. CD-ROM Directory Structure For Windows and OS/2, the files on this CD-ROM are located as follows: DB2 product x:\DB2\ files: Installation x:\DB2\\\INSTALL.TXT Notes: HTML Books: x:\DOC\\HTML\ For UNIX, the files on this CD-ROM are located as follows: Note:Linux has an additional directory: /db2/linux/install/dummyrpm, containing the the dummy RPM files: glibc-2.0.7-0.i386.rpm and libstdc++-2.8.0-0.i386.rpm. If a particular book is translated into a particular language, then it is in the language directory specific to that language. This means, for example, that the English language books are in the \doc\en directory on Windows and OS/2, and in the /doc/en directory on UNIX, whereas the French books are in the \doc\fr directory on Windows and OS/2, and in the /doc/fr directory on UNIX.
