DB2 UDB Version 8 FixPak 1 Contains an Incorrect Version of
                   the Universal JDBC Driver
====================================================================

Ignore this readme if you do not require support for all-Java remote
connectivity (type 4) with the universal JDBC driver, or if your
database is not at DB2 UDB Version 8 FixPak 1.

The version of the universal JDBC driver that was released with DB2
Version 8 FixPak 1 is not certified or tested, and is not intended
for use. This version of the universal JDBC driver will also expire
on July 1, 2003. If you are using or plan to use the universal JDBC
driver based on DB2 UDB Version 8 FixPak 1, download the certified
version of the universal JDBC driver from the following FTP site:

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/products/db2/fixes/db2v8fp1_ujdbc_fix

You need to download the following files:

java/db2jcc.jar
java/sqlj.zip

Before downloading these files, stop all DB2 applications on your
system that use the JDBC driver, back up the current version of the
files under $DB2_INSTALL_DIR/java (on UNIX-based platforms) or
$DB2_INSTALL_DIR\java (on Windows-based platforms), and put the new
files there with the same permission and ownership. $DB2_INSTALL_DIR
is the root directory where DB2 Version 8 is installed.

For more information about the universal JDBC driver, see the
following Web site :
