Memory windows is for users on large HP 64-bit machines, who want to take advantage of greater than 1.75 GB of shared memory for 32-bit applications. Memory windows is not required if you are running the 64-bit version of DB2. Memory windows makes available a separate 1 GB of shared memory per process or group of processes. This allows an instance to have its own 1 GB of shared memory, plus the 0.75 GB of global shared memory. If users want to take advantage of this, they can run multiple instances, each in its own window. Following are prerequisites and conditions for using memory windows:
