DB2 for AIX Client Application Enabler v2.1.2 DB2 for AIX Administrator's Toolkit v2.1.2 ============================================= Installation Instructions ------------------------- The following installation options are provided on the CD-ROM: db2_02_01.client - DB2 for AIX Client Application Enabler db2_02_01.clp - DB2 Command Line Processor db2_02_01.dd - DB2 Database Director db2_02_01.pm - DB2 Performance Monitor db2_02_01.ve - DB2 Visual Explain db2_02_01.msg.%L - DB2 Product Messages - %L ipfx.Runtime - Information Presentation Facility (INF) v1.1 ipfx.nls.%L - %L messages and resources where %L indicates the locale (a 5 character encoding for the Language, Country and Codeset). If you are installing through SMIT then you can specify your CD-ROM drive (for example /dev/cd0) when prompted for the "INPUT device / directory for software". If you are installing using installp then (assuming that the CD-ROM is mounted as /cdrom) you can specify the /cdrom directory using the "-d" or "Device" option of installp. For detailed installation and configuration instructions for AIX Clients see the book "Installing and Using AIX Clients". WARNING Before installing the IPF/X viewer on AIX 4.1 first check to see if ipfx.rte v2.1 is installed by issuing the command: lppchk -L ipfx.rte If ipfx.rte v2.1 is already installed then do not install ipfx.Runtime v1.1 since these products cannot co-exist on the same machine. The INF formatted books that are provided on this CD-ROM can be viewed with either ipfx.rte v2.1 OR ipfx.Runtime v1.1. Books ----- Books are available in both PostScript format and INF format in the following locations (assuming that the CD-ROM is mounted as /cdrom): /cdrom/aix/en/sqlj3e03.psz Installing and Using AIX Clients (English) /cdrom/aix/en/sqlj3e03.inf Installing and Using AIX Clients (English) /cdrom/aix/en/sqlm0e03.psz DB2 Messages Reference (English) /cdrom/aix/en/sqlm0e03.inf DB2 Messages Reference (English) Printing PostScript Manuals --------------------------- PostScript versions of the books "Installing and Using AIX Clients" and the "DB2 Messages Reference" are available on this CD-ROM. The PostScript files are ready for printing on any PostScript printer. To print a file execute: zcat < 'pathname' | lpr -Pps where is the path specified above for the location of the book and "ps" is the name of the PostScript printer queue on your machine. NOTES: 1. You may not be able to print a manual if there is not enough memory in your PostScript printer; the amount of memory required depends on the size of the manual being printed. 2. If your /var directory is too small to hold the temporary file created during printing, you may be able to unpack the file to a filesystem that has enough space, then print (on a local printer only) without making a temporary file. For example: zcat < filename.psz > /home/user/filename.ps lpr -s /home/user/filename.ps Viewing On-line Manuals ----------------------- All books are also available in INF format for on-line viewing. This version of the books are available in the same locations as the PostScript versions with filenames ending in .inf. To view the online manuals you must first install the IPF/X viewer. See the Installation section above for details. Once the IPF/X viewer is installed, you can find additional instructions on how to use the viewer in the files: /usr/lpp/ipfx/readme /usr/lpp/ipfx/lpp.README To view an online manual, type: xview pathname where "pathname" is the path specified above for the location of the book. Release Notes ------------- Additional information that you may require can be found in the "DB2 Release Notes" or "DDCS Release Notes". Read this information by viewing or printing the "README.TXT" or "DDCSREAD.TXT" files. One or both of these files are located in the SQLLIB directory where you installed DB2. ------------------------------------------------------------------- * are trademarks or registered trademarks of IBM Corporation. ** are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. ------------------------------------------------------------------- *********************************************************************** ** ** ** (c) COPYRIGHT INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION 1995. ** ** ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. ** ** ** ***********************************************************************
