Release Notes (FixPak 3)

3Alternate FixPaks on UNIX-based systems

3Prior to DB2 Universal Database Version 8, FixPaks only functioned as 3updates to installed DB2 Universal Database packages or filesets in one single 3fixed location. Essentially, this meant that the installation of 3FixPaks would replace existing files with the updated ones provided within the 3FixPaks, and multiple DB2 FixPak levels on a single system was not a 3possibility. DB2 Universal Database Version 8.1 Enterprise 3Server Edition (ESE) with different FixPak levels can now exist in the same 3system. This has been supported in production since Version 38.1.2. This is accomplished by the fact that there are 3now two types of FixPaks: 3

3Regular Fixpaks

3Notes:

  1. 3You are not required to perform a multiple FixPak installation 3if you do not feel it is necessary for your environment.

  2. 3Starting with DB2 Universal Database v8.1.2 for UNIX(R) 3and Linux, Enterprise Service Edition (ESE) Fixpaks are supported in 3production when installed as Multiple Fixpaks. 3

3To update a multiple FixPak instance to a different FixPak level, perform 3one of the following options: 3
