************************** *** IBM DataHub for OS/2 * ************************** WHAT IS IBM DATAHUB FOR OS/2? IBM* DataHub* for OS/2* is IBM's solution for managing the IBM DB2* family of relational databases and provides a set of integrated database management functions that can help you achieve the following objectives: * Increase IS staff productivity -- DataHub provides an object-oriented graphical user interface that allows a DBA to manage multiple DB2 databases in the network from a single desktop control point. DataHub allows a DBA to browse multiple DB2 catalogs and: - copy data and definitions between systems, - manage security authorizations, - perform DB2 commands to backup, recover, reorganize and configure a remote database, - add or delete users to a User Profile Management (UPM) system, - IPL a remote OS/2 system, - perform remote OS/2 commands or command procedures. * Provide automation for OS/2 and AIX* servers -- DataHub provides an automated scheduler for automating operations and can interoperate with NetView* or other SNMP-based network management systems by detecting and forwarding problems in user defined jobs to a NetView or SNMP control center. * Provide multiple choices of network protocols -- DataHub now supports TCP/IP and NetBIOS as well as SNA APPC for systems management connections for OS/2 and AIX systems. * Enhance useability -- DataHub Version 2 has been improved to allow multiple tools to execute concurrently and to provide for easier installation and set-up. * Support multiple DB2 products -- DataHub adds support for the new DB2 Version 2 workstation databases and also supports: - DB2/2* Version 1 - DB2/6000* Version 1 - DB2 for MVS - DB2 for OS/400 - DB2 for VM DATAHUB FOR OS/2 AND DATABASE SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT The DataHub products are key components of IBM's Database Systems Management solution. As enterprises in today's competitive environment grow, they have a need to manage databases on a variety of platforms. DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 is the solution for the management of the DB2 family of databases. DataHub is also required for setting up and administering a data replication process with the DataPropagator* Relational product.
