This * package can be distributed to any one who has a license for * this product. * ********************************************************************** * * * PRE-REQUISITES * -------------- * IBM Communications Server for Windows, Version 6.1.2 * FixPack 2 (JR20883) * * This fix is designed for use with FixPack 2 of CS/Windows V612. * It is not designed for use with any other level of the product * and may cause irreparable damage if inappropriately applied. * * No other prerequisites are required for the installation of * this fix. * * * APAR DESCRIPTION * ---------------- * EEDLC source ports changed to use 12000-12004 vs first available * * ERROR DESCRIPTION * ----------------- * EEDLC uses the first available ports, instead of ports 12000 * through 12004, for the source UDP ports. * * PROBLEM SUMMARY * --------------- * USERS AFFECTED: All who use EEDLC (Enterprise Extender). * * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * The use of the first available (apparently random) source ports * can cause difficulty with firewall configuration, including * the firewalls of Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 SP1. This can * cause link activation problems. * * PROBLEM SUMMARY: * Architecture design is to use ports 12000-12004 as both the * source and destination ports for an EEDLC link. This is * consistent with other EEDLC products. * * PROBLEM CONCLUSION * ------------------ * The EEDLC code was changed to use port 12000 for the source * port for all EEDLC traffic from CS/Windows. A future update * is planned to include a design change to have EEDLC use source * ports 12000-12004 based on SNA network priority as EEDLC * architecture defines. * * * This apar includes all current and previous apar maintenance * against the CS/Windows V612 Enterprise Extender DLC or EEDLC * component since the GA of the product through April 14, 2005. * * ********************************************************************** * * INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS * ------------------------- * * The PARTS LIST is as follows: * * FILE SIZE DATE DESTINATION * pdlndldl.sys 69,632 04/14/2005 \WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS or * \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS * * Installing the fix: * * 1) Be SURE you have downloaded JR21316_6122.ZIP in BINARY format. * * 2) Create a temporary directory and extract the files in * JR21316_6122.ZIP into the directory. * * 3a) Stop Communications Server for Windows NT (including the node, * Node Operations, Node Configuration, Log Viewer, and any other * CS/Windows components that are running). Note that there may * still be CS/Windows-related services running on the machine * after stopping these applications, but this is normal and * should not affect the installation of this fix package, with * the exception of the two modules listed in the next step. * * 3b) Right click on the Windows bar and select Task Manager. Under * "Processes" select RAPISERVER.EXE and end the process. Select * PCS_AGENT.EXE and end the process, then close Task Manager. * * 3c) Stop the EEDLC service: * net stop ldlcserv * * 4a) Rename the original file: * C: * cd \WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS * ren pdlndldl.sys pdlndldl.sys_preJR21316 * * 4b) Copy the new file into place: * cp (path)\pdlndldl.sys C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\pdlndldl.sys * * (replace WINNT with WINDOWS as appropriate, such as for a * Windows XP system) * * 5). Shutdown and Restart WINDOWS to reboot the machine. * * 6).
