Stop Communications Server for Windows NT (including your node, * Node Operations, Node Configuration, Log Viewer, and any other * CS/NT components you have started). Note that there may still * be CS/NT-related services running on the machine after stopping * these applications, but this is normal and should not affect * the installation of this fix pack package with the exception of * the two modules listed in the next step. * * 3a. Right click on the Windows bar and select Task Manager. Under * "Processes" select RAPISERVER.EXE and END the process. Select * PCS_AGENT.EXE and end that process, then close Task Manager. * * 3b. Stop ALL Window applications on this box since a reboot will * be required after running INSTFIX.BAT maintenance installation. * * 4a. From a command prompt, run INSTFIX.BAT with NO parameters * to view directions on which parameters to supply * the INSTFIX.BAT command file. Read instructions carefully. * * 4b. Now run INSTFIX.BAT file. * * FOR EXAMPLE:>> INSTFIX * * If you want to preserve output to a log file (preferred), * you can issue * * INSTFIX > FIX_PACK_3.TXT * * NOTE1: INSTFIX.BAT issues "NET STOP APPNNODE" to * stop APPNNODE Services. * * NOTE2: INSTFIX.BAT also issues "NET STOP LDLCSERV" to * stop LDLCSERV Services. * * NOTE3: INSTFIX will rename the current or target files being * replaced to &file.preFIXPACK3, then copy the updated files. * * IF for some reason you rerun INSTFIX.BAT, you will receive * errors during each rename because the &file.prefixPaCK3 * file will already exist. The original copy of the file will * be preserved in &file.preFIXPACK3 and available as a * backup for restore purposes. * * If for some reason you need to restore or backout this * fix pack, you would have to perform step 3, manually rename the * updated file names to &file.fix pack 2, then rename the * backup files (or &file.prefixpack2) to production file names. * * * NOTE4: INSTFIX.BAT issues VER to determine Windows NT or 2000 version. * For Windows 2000 user, INSTFIX.BAT will copy LLC2W2K.SYS as * LLC2.SYS. For Windows NT user, INSTFIX.BAT will copy LLC2NT.SYS * as LLC2.SYS. INSTFIX.BAT file also uses VER command to * determine Windows type and automatically copies the appropriate * file as LLC2.SYS, so you do not have to rename the file anymore. * * NOTE5: After all the files are copied, INSTFIX.BAT automatically issues * "SERVICESTEST -c LDLCSERV" command to initialize LDLCSERV service. * * NOTE6: INSTFIX.BAT automatically issues "NET START LDLCSERV" to * start LDLCSERV service. * * NOTE7: The default value of the registry key * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\Communications Server\ * CurrentVersion\VersionNumber will be modified from 6110 to 6113 * * NOTE8: The common errors that may be faced during the installation are * a. Starting and stopping of appnnode may through some errors * b. Errors as mentioned in NOTE3 * c. If pcs_agnt and rapiserver are not stopped as mentioned in * step 3.b., the installation will fail to copy the modules * related to those processes * d. For some reasons if the component related to file is not * installed in the system this installation may give some errors * like file not found. For example, if MPA drivers exists in the * system, the installation will copy the latest version. If it does * not exist, it will log errors. * * 5). After running INSTFIX.BAT confirm ALL component parts listed above * reflect new dates. If they do NOT, then you must manually copy them * after you REBOOT but prior to starting any CSNT Services. ALL files * must reflect updated dates or CSNT will not function properly. * * 6). Shutdown and Restart WINDOWS to reboot the machine. * * * 7). You can now start CSNT Node Operations and configure the new * available functions. * * CONTACT FOR SUPPORT: * * If you have any questions, please call the IBM SUPPORT CENTER * for your Country.
