PREREQUISITES : IBM Communications Server for Windows NT version 5.0

PROBLEMS FIXED:

APAR Number   Description

JR10368       SERVICES.EXE doesn't create all necessary services.



INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

   JR10368.EXE is a self-extracting file containing
   the shipped executable and JR10368.TXT (this file).

   The PARTS LIST is as follows:

      SERVICES.EXE 
      JR10368.TXT 

   Installing the fix on the system:

      1) Be SURE you have downloaded JR10368.EXE in BINARY format.

      2) Create a Temp directory and copy JR10368.EXE into the temporary
         directory and unzip it.

      3) Stop Communications Server for Windows NT (including your node,
         Node Operations, Node Configuration, Log Viewer, and any other
         CS/NT components you have started).  Note that there may still
         be CS/NT-related services running on the machine after stopping
         these applications, but this is normal and will not affect
         the installation of this fix package.

      4) Backup your existing version of the SERVICES.EXE file

      5) Copy the new SERVICES.EXE from the temporary directory
         to the directory where CS/NT is installed.

      6) Delete and then recreate the CS/NT services by running
         the new SERVICES.EXE from a command prompt as follows:

       a) From the directory where CS/NT is installed, run:

          services.exe c:\ibmcs /d

          where "c:\ibmcs" is the directory where CS/NT is installed.
          The "/d" parameter causes the program to delete all services
          that may have been created by the CS/NT installation program.
          You will receive a message that the services were
          successfully removed.

       b) Shut Down and Restart the CS/NT server machine before continuing
          to step c.  You may receive a message saying that at least one 
          service or driver failed during system startup. Press OK to 
          acknowledge the message.

       c) When the machine has restarted, from the directory where 
          CS/NT is installed, run:

          services.exe c:\ibmcs /c

          where "c:\ibmcs" is the directory where CS/NT is installed.
          The "/c" parameter causes the program to create the CS/NT
          services.

      7) Shut Down and Restart the CS/NT server machine.
