• Year 2000 Analysis Tool

These components are provided on an as-is basis for use with IBM VisualAge COBOL for Windows NT, Version 3.0. They are not included on the IBM VisualAge COBOL for Windows NT, Version 3.0 CD.

Online help for Program Understanding and the Year 2000 Analysis Tool is not provided in the IBM VisualAge COBOL for Windows NT, Version 3.0 Information Center. You can access the help for these components from the user interface (Help menu and F1).

For more information about IBM VisualAge COBOL for Windows NT, Version 3.0, refer to the IBM COBOL Web site.

DB2 Universal Database Version 5 or later is required for using the Year 2000 Analysis Tool. Make sure that you have the necessary software installed.

Follow these instructions to download and install Program Understanding and the Year 2000 Analysis Tool:

1. Make a backup copy of \mainprj\VACOBV3.IWS. Mainprj\VACOBV33.IWS is located in the directory where IBM VisualAge COBOL for Windows NT, Version 3.0 is installed on your workstation.
2. Download the ProgramUnderstanding.zip file (which includes the Year 2000 Analysis Tool).
3. Unzip the file into the directory where VA COBOL is installed on your workstation.

To use the Program Understanding functions, do the following steps:

1. Click Start -> Programs -> IBM VisualAge COBOL -> IBM VisualAge COBOL Projects.
2. In the IBM VisualAge COBOL Projects window, select any MVS or non-GUI project and click Open.
3. In the project window, select a file with an extension of .adt or .eu and click Edit -> Show Flow Graph or Edit -> Show Smart Listing. Note: the .adt and .eu files must be in a directory path that does not contain blanks.

To use the Year 2000 Analysis Tool, do the following steps:

1. Click Start -> Programs -> IBM VisualAge COBOL -> IBM VisualAge COBOL Projects.
2. In the IBM VisualAge COBOL Projects window, select a non-GUI project and click Open.
3. In the project window, click Actions -> Open Year 2000 Analysis.
