To install this PTF, see below the section INSTALLATION AND SETUP. 2.0 CONTENTS OF THIS PTF This PTF addresses the following problems: IM Modeling generates error messages 1180 or 1183 or 1259 (XML parse error) even for valid XML input. Note: PTF IP22677 supersedes PTF IP22667 on Solaris and PTF IP22646 on all other platforms. 3.0 INSTALLATION AND SETUP 3.1 Prerequisites You must have successfully installed the IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner Modeling Version 8.1. 3.2 Installing IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner Modeling Version 8.1 PTF IP22677 on AIX. To install the PTF on AIX, follow these steps: Use SMIT or SMITTY to install this update. - Software Installation and Maintenance - Install and Update Software - Update Software by Fix (APAR) - Enter input device/path containing update package (IP22677.PKG) - List FIXES to install - Install this fix (IC36450) 3.3 Installing IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner Modeling Version 8.1 PTF IP22677 on Linux To install the PTF on Linux, follow these steps: In the directory containing the files 'linuxInstallIP22677' and 'IMinerXIP22677-8-1.rpm', issue the following command: ./linuxInstallIP22677 3.4 Installing IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner Modeling Version 8.1 PTF IP22677 on Solaris To install the PTF on Solaris, follow these steps: - Download all files into a directory. - Extract the files from IP22677.tar.gz: gunzip IP22677.tar.gz tar xvf IP22677.tar - Log on as 'root' and change to the directory containing the files extracted in the previous step. - Issue the following command: ./sunInstallPTF 3.5 Installing IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner Modeling Version 8.1 PTF IP22677 on Windows To install the PTF on Windows, follow these steps: - Stop DB2. - Execute the file IP22677.exe. - In the initial dialog, choose the language for your installation (the PTF is language independent, this is only the language for the dialogs). - Follow the instructions that are displayed. In the Custom Setup Dialog, there is only one preselected feature; the selection should not be changed. - Restart DB2. Note: PTF IP22677 supersedes PTF IP22646. Therefore, if the installer detects PTF IP22646 on your system, it deinstalles PTF IP22646 before PTF IP22677 is installed. 4.0 PROBLEMS FIXED BY THIS PTF - IM Modeling generates error messages 1180 or 1183 or 1259 (XML parse error) even for valid XML input. Several SQL API methods of IM Modeling 8.1 abort with error messages 1180 or 1183 (XML parse error) even if they receive valid XML input as argument. The Stored Procedures DM_Build[Clus/Clas/Rule]Model abort with error message 1259 (The Mining Task could not be parsed) even if the task is valid. This only happens with DB2 8.1 Fixpack 1 or higher, not with DB2 8.1 without fixpack or with DB2 7. The problem typically arises in the second or third call (counted from the latest preceding 'db2start' command) of an IM Modeling API method. - Some IM Modeling methods may return NULL when they should return NON-NULL results. This is a variable initialization problem which is very unlikely to happen and which is not always reproducible in subsequent identical mining runs. Installing the PTF replaces two of IM Modeling's dynamic libraries (idmx.dll,idmxrun.dll on Windows, libidmx.so, libidmxrun.so on Unixes) by updated versions which does not generate the errors described above. 5.0 DEINSTALLATION OF THIS PTF To deinstall the PTF on Linux, follow these steps: In the directory containing the file 'linuxUninstallIP22677' issue the following command: ./linuxUninstallIP22677 The deinstallation on Solaris is not possible. To deinstall the PTF on Windows, follow these steps: After installation of this PTF, the Add/Remove Programs Window displays two Modeling Products: IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner Modeling 8.1 IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner Modeling 8.1 PTF IP22677 When you deinstall the PTF, Windows removes only the entry from this list, the file Readme_PTF_IP22677.txt, and the shortcut in the start menu. It does not remove any other files installed by this PTF, because then IM Modeling would not work any more. So, it is not possible to go back to PTF level 0 by just deinstalling this PTF. If you want to go back to PTF Level 0, you must follow these steps: - Deinstall IBM DB2 IM Modeling V8.1 PTF IP22677 (this PTF) - Deinstall IBM DB2 IM Modeling V8.1 - If IBM DB2 IM Scoring V8.1 is also installed, deinstall it (because this PTF installs files shared between these products) - Reinstall IBM DB2 IM Modeling V8.1 from the original CD - If necessary, reinstall IBM DB2 IM Scoring V8.1 from the original CD. 6.0 Notices This information was developed for products and services offered in the U.S.A.
