To install this PTF, see below the section INSTALLATION AND SETUP. 2.0 CONTENTS OF THIS PTF This PTF addresses the following problems: - Enabling Redbrick data sources - Incorrect percentage in Demographic Clustering in parallel mode - Blanks in tablenames while creating data objects - Windows Parallel Mode with WMPI The following files are automatically installed during the installation procedure: Common to all Features: Files Target directory ---------------------------------------- idmac.dll [Install Dir]\bin Readme_PTF_IP22637.txt [Install Dir] Client: Files Target directory --------------------------------------- idmgui.zip [Install Dir]\lib Toolkit: Files Target directory --------------------------------------- idmac.lib [Install Dir]\lib Server: Target directory --------------------------------------- idmd.exe [Install Dir]\bin Parallel Server: Files Target directory --------------------------------------- idmhclup.exe [Install Dir]\bin idmkaspp.exe [Install Dir]\bin idmlclap.exe [Install Dir]\bin idmrprep.exe [Install Dir]\bin 3.0 INSTALLATION AND SETUP 3.1 Prerequisites You must have successfully installed the IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner for Data Version 8.1. 3.2 Installing IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner for Data Version 8.1 PTF IP22637 on Windows To install the PTF on Windows, follow these steps: - If running, close Intelligent Miner for Data Client. Ensure that the Server is not in use during the installation of the fixpack. - Execute the file PTF_IP22637.exe. - In the initial dialog, choose the language for your installation. - Follow the instructions that are displayed. In the Custom Setup Dialog, those features that are installed on your system are selected for update by default. (It should not be necessary, but you can modify this selection if you do not want to update all installed features). Warning: If you want to install additional components of the IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner for Data at a later point of time, make sure to reinstall this PTF package. If you do not reinstall PTFs, the IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner for Data might become unusable because you had a mixture of old and fixed files. 4.0 PROBLEMS FIXED BY THIS PTF o Enabling Redbrick data sources Problem: Intelligent Miner for Data V8.1 cannot use Redbrick data sources. Solution: Apply this PTF IP22637 to enable IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner for Data V8.1 to use Redbrick data sources. The Redbrick data sources must be defined to DB2 using DB2 Relational Connect's or the follow-on product's ODBC wrapper. To enable Redbrick data source access in IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner for Data, set the environment variable IDM_REDBRICK_CONNECT to 'on' before your start the IM server: - Set the IDM_REDBRICK_CONNECT environment variable as a system variable on your IM server machine - Reboot your system Note: This fix does not imply that the Redbrick database is generally supported by IM for Data V8.1. Restrictions might apply. o Incorrect percentage in Demographic Clustering in parallel mode Problem: When running Demographic Clustering in parallel mode, the cluster sizes shown are incorrect. Scoring, however, is not affected. Each cluster shows the total number of records assigned to this cluster in all the passes. At the end, there are more records in the clusters than in the database. The visualizer then shows percentages of data based on the table size instead of the total number of records assigend. The correct total number of records is * + . Solution: Apply this PTF IP22637. This will implement the TWO_MDLS mode also employed in the serial version of the Demographic Clustering algorithm, so that only the records of the last pass are contained in the clusters. The visualizer shows correct percentages of data. CAUTION: the clustering algorithm has been modified, so that the same settings will not produce the same result as before. o Blanks in tablenames while creating data objects Problem: To create a new data object from a database table or view, typically the Data Wizard is used. In the wizard, a table or view must be selected. The problem is that it does not accept tables with names shorter than 18 characters. The "Next" button stays disabled although a table is selected. (This problem occurs if the name of the table or view contains trailing blanks. Some database tools add trailing blanks during the creation of tables so that the name has a length of 18 characters.) Solution: Apply this PTF IP22637. This will enable the Data Wizard to accept blanks in tables or via names. o Windows Parallel Mode with WMPI Problem: When executed in parallel mode (using WMPI) on Microsoft Windows NT4 / 2000 / XP the following problems might occur: - Tree Classification und Association Rule Mining runs hang without terminating. - Neural Clustering runs either hang or they create wrong results. Solution: Apply this PTF IP22637. This will implement three independent fixes in the kernel codes of Tree Classification, Association Rule, and Neural Clustering. 5.0 DEINSTALLATION OF THIS PTF After installation of this PTF, the Add/Remove Programs Window displays two IM for Data Products: IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner for Data 8.1 IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner for Data 8.1 PTF IP22637 When you deinstall the PTF, Windows removes only the entry from this list, the file Readme_PTF_IP22637.txt, and the shortcut in the start menu. It does not remove any other files installed by this PTF, because then IM for Data would not work any more. So, it is not possible to go back to PTF level 0 by just deinstalling this PTF. If you want to go back to PTF Level 0, you must follow these steps: - Deinstall IBM DB2 IM for Data V8.1 PTF IP22637 (this PTF) - Deinstall IBM DB2 IM for Data V8.1 - Reinstall IBM DB2 IM for Data V8.1 from the original CD 6.0 Notices This information was developed for products and services offered in the U.S.A.
