Additionally, "problem" object are now represented by blackened icons instead of by greyed icons, allowing for a clearer view on the desktop. o_ WINDOWS CLIENT NOW INCLUDES WIN32S VERSION In addition to the 16-bit WIN-OS/2 clients shipped with PSM, a 32-bit PSM Windows 3.1 client is now also included. This client supports the National Language Support (NLS) versions of the PSM servers. Additionally, this new client acts as the beta version for the PSM Windows 95 client; however, it will only support 16-bit printer drivers at this time. Should you install this client on a Windows 95 system, you will need to use/install the 16-bit printer drivers that are available for Windows 3.x rather than the 32-bit printer drivers that are available for Windows 95. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION RECOMMENDATIONS IMPORTANT!! It is highly recommended that previous versions of PSM and PSM GUI be removed using the AIX SMIT facility prior to installing this new re- lease. Currently defined printers and PSM user-defined objects will not be affected by removing the software. DO NOT USE THE SMIT "UPDATE SOFTWARE" OPTIONS TO INSTALL THIS RELEASE. In- stead, remove the existing PSM software and install the new software using the SMIT "Install from ALL Available Software" option. The procedure under AIX 4.2 would be: 1. Reject all prior maintenance for the PSM filesets. (fastpath: "smit reject") 2. Remove the existing filesets for PSM. (fastpath: "smit remove") 3. Install the new filesets; do not select 'ALL' as the value for the field "SOFTWARE to install" unless you need to use all of the NLS filesets for all available languages. Instead, perform a prompt on the field, and se- lect only those filesets that you will use. (fastpath: "smit install_all") ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ORDERING INFORMATION The new release is a non-chargeable upgrade which may be ordered via normal channels. It will not be shipped automatically to current licensees. Note that service for release 1 of the PSM products will end on June 30, 1997. Current users of PSM version 1.1 are strongly encouraged to upgrade to the latest levels of code. $EOM
